Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
